Ekushey February – Bengali Language Celebrations

On 21st February each year, BEAP marks the Bengali Language Day, also known as the International Mother Language Day and is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide.
International Mother Language Day originated as the international recognition of Language Movement Day, which has been commemorated in Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) since 1952, when a number of University of Dhaka students were killed in Dhaka during Bengali Language Movement protests.
It was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999. Its observance was also formally recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

Bangladesh Independence Day

BEAP marks the National Day of Bangladesh on March 26.
This day is celebrated as the Independence Day of Bangladesh. This commemorates the declaration of independence, and the start of Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
